Shackletons was founded by the forefathers of the famous explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton. Originally based in Kildare the mill then moved to Lucan where it continued to operate on the banks of the River Liffey . We are extremely proud of our links to Sir Ernest and his achievements. Much of his hard working ethos is part of our company's philosophy and thought process today .
Shackletons is now a modern progressive food ingredients company based in Ashbourne, Co Meath in Ireland, just off the M50 Motorway, and Twenty minutes from Dublin Airport. We are operating out of a 26,000 sqft modern BRC AA accredited facility that incorporates a 10,000 sqft dedicated stand - alone Gluten Free Facility.
Due to dietary awareness, there has been a huge interest in the benefit of eating brown bread with crushed wholegrain and wheat additives. This is where Shackletons milling skills come into play as we have developed a system of isolating the grain; cleaning and crushing as required. This system requires 14 different processes.
